Recent press articles about our March to Save the MIU have claimed that all political parties are campaigning to save the Minor Injuries Unit. This is clearly not true.
UKIP's policy is to privatise the NHS and their leader is on record confirming it. The Conservatives are responsible for the cuts that we are fighting; they brought in the Health and Social Care Act 2012 that is forcing the Clinical Commissioning Group to consider cutting the service, and will force them to go out to tender to private companies next year to provide it.
The only party that has a policy of saving the NHS is the Labour Party. It is misleading and hypocritical for any other party to suggest that they support it. For this reason, UKIP and Conservative activists are not welcome on our march.
The March on 25th February has been organised by the Labour Party so that local people who care about our local services can come together and voice their concerns about the future of the MIU and the NHS.
We look forward to seeing you there. Make your own banners and placards, bring the family and let’s tell the people of our district how much we care for the NHS.
